James Penny

James has worked in education for forty years – Initially as a teacher focusing on Maths, Music, and IT and then as a senior leader in a number of schools. James then joined IBM to lead an EdTech research programme across Europe, Middle East, and Africa and then as a global education specialist supporting a wide-range projects across multiple geographies. James has held various Director roles, including as the IT Director for two large chains of schools (both an Independent Sector and a Maintained sector school). More recently he has supported a range of businesses with their growth strategies. James has also advised government on EdTech. In 2017 he published a book, “Learning Rebooted” (that looked at how education systems might transform as technology becomes ever more pervasive).

Combining interests in school improvement, understanding high performing schools, how groups of schools can work together to create an environment of continuous improvement and the role of EdTech, James enjoys working with a range of individuals to focus on improving education outcomes and creating positive impact in classrooms.
