Background Information about the School

Tidemill is a successful, innovative and happy school where children come first. We are a two-form entry mainstream primary school with a Nursery. Additionally, we have a Speech and Language Resource Base, which serves children from across Lewisham with a developmental language disorder (DLD) as a primary need. With the inclusion of our Nursery, we have the capacity for approximately 480 children.

We aim to give our pupils an excellent education to ensure they have the best possible life chances and develop a love of learning. We recognise that this means focussing on the whole child to ensure that each and every pupil fulfils their potential and thrives. We have a highly creative approach to teaching and learning to ensure that pupils are motivated and challenged, enabling them to make excellent progress in both the core subjects and the wider curriculum. Our engaging, rich and diverse curriculum ensures learning is brought to life for the children. Through Tidemill’s skills and attitudes, which we teach across the curriculum, we foster a positive and resilient approach towards learning and life.

We know that strong links between school and home give children the highest chance of success. Therefore, there are many opportunities for parents and carers to get involved in their children’s education, including ‘Stay and Play’, Inspire workshops and other family learning experiences.

With our passion for professional development of staff, and our role as lead school in initial teacher training for REAch2, we have an excellent professional development programme for staff. This ensures pupils are supported by a team of talented and dedicated staff who have a very positive impact on pupil achievement and well-being.

All of this in a school building with superb facilities means that we are well positioned to equip our pupils with the skills, knowledge and experiences to be successful and responsible citizens in the 21st century.

We are a caring employer who invests in the future of our employees, as only through their excellence can we deliver excellence for the children and families whom we serve. To see more information about the school, please visit our website Tidemill Academy
