A positive school experience begins with something simple yet essential: children feeling safe, happy and ready to learn. When pupils feel secure and valued, they are more able to engage, absorb new knowledge and build the foundations that help them thrive.

It is therefore encouraging that Ofsted recognised the strength of this work at Ranikhet Academy during their visit in April 2026.

Inspectors also noted that leaders have “developed an ambitious curriculum that is sequenced logically”. Across every subject and year group, the curriculum has been carefully shaped to meet pupils’ needs at each stage of their learning. Knowledge and skills build progressively over time, ensuring pupils develop a secure and confident understanding as they move through the school.

Ofsted also highlighted the “high expectations” that are clearly embedded across the school. Teachers benefit from well-planned professional development, enabling them to continually refine their practice and secure the best possible outcomes for children.

Independence is another strength at Ranikhet. From the earliest years, pupils are encouraged to take ownership of their learning, make choices and develop the confidence to explore new ideas. This early independence helps children become curious, resilient learners who are ready to take on new challenges.

Inclusion remains central to the school’s ethos. All children are supported, with provision tailored to individual needs. Pupils also benefit from enriching extracurricular opportunities, such as cooking clubs, that help them develop essential life skills, confidence and independence beyond the classroom.

What is clear is that Ranikhet is a school that cares deeply about its pupils’ outcomes. It is a place where ambition for children is high, opportunities are thoughtfully created and enrichment is woven into daily school life.

Speaking about the recent inspection, Vicky Campos Headteacher said:

“Having joined the school only recently, I am pleased that the inspection has recognised the positive culture and strong foundations that are already in place for our pupils.

We are ambitious for every child at Ranikhet Academy, and this report gives us clear areas to build on as we continue to strengthen teaching and learning across the school. I am looking forward to working with our staff, pupils and wider community to ensure that every child receives the very best experience possible.”

Cathie Paine, CBE – CEO of REAch2 Academy Trust added:

“This inspection recognises many strengths at Ranikhet Academy, particularly the positive culture, high expectations and thoughtful curriculum that are already supporting pupils to feel safe, included and ready to learn.

As with all schools, the report also highlights areas where further development is needed. We welcome this clarity, as it helps us focus our collective effort where it will have the greatest impact for children.

We are confident that, the school is well placed to continue its journey towards becoming a truly great school for every child.”
